Well ill still be somewhat the naysayer after having spent months toying with generative art ai.. impressive as it is everythingbi have seen shows to fundamentally be a clever trick.. a clever one but nonetheless one that is easily enough uncovered after a while of playing with it. 'ah but its rapidly getting more powerful and sophisticated' they say. Yes at doing the trick faster and with more panache and with a greater array of if then parameters. but still a trick of combining information according to 'if-then' parameters. Adding more complexity to the if then conditions will allow it to get better at not drawing yet another deformed hand. And we are getting there. But every time the parameters dont tell it whether sonething is a stripey jumper or a stripey blanket it will mess up. And the only way to correct it is to have an army of lowly paid humans in the third world TEll it that its a jumper. The claim is that after a while of such a huge quantity of if then parameters it will be able to...learn. But last time i checked the third workd workers are as busy as ever drawing boxes around cars as it encounters yet another of never ending edge case examples that fall outside its current parameters. The claim is generalized 'intelligence' will emerge when these if then parameters reach enough complexity. But theres no evidence for that - i mean humans dont even do that. Gathering more and more data doesnt neccesarily cause a hypothesis to emerge. It often just ends up accumulating mountains of data. Dont get me wrong - it is going to change many things. But being an incredibly clever and disruptive tool is a different ball game from generalized and sentient Ai. Im pretty sure some of the clever dudes in this video know this. Or thry have beought into their own hype kike when the human genome project was in full hype mode and we had pundits prophesying discovery of the gene for homelessness. In the end such refuctionist hype didnt pan out and - amazing as rhe science of genetics is, the sci fi world of genetic tinkering offered by such people has not arrived.

I've cautiously got my hand on the door handle of this runaway vehicle, can drop out at a moment's notice, my kids have been brought up to be self sufficient and have transferrable skills.
